The preservation and perpetuation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Mount Union Area and the accomplishment of any and all things necessary and relevant to the achievement of the same.
The Mount Union Area Historical Society was formed in 1976 to preserve a house built by John Sharrar along the Pennsylvania Canal in 1841. This building was used as a store in the lower floor with living quarters on the second level. Today, it has been turned into a museum with a "turn of the century" store on the lower level and rooms with rotating displays on the upper level. This house is located at 7 West Water Street, Mount Union, PA.
The Price House, located at 22 West Water Street, Mount Union, contains archives, genealogy and artifacts.
The Industrial Museum, 122 West Market Street, Mount Union, has on display many photos and artifacts from the brickyards, railroads, and other industries.
Visiting hours at the Sharrar House and the Price House are 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Thursday afternoons from the beginning of May until the first of October. All buildings are open to visitors by appointment.
