JUNE 25 - 28 -- Creation 2008
The largest Christian music festival on the East Coast is now in its 30th year at the Agape Farm, along Keystone Road, three miles south of Mount Union.  The festivities officially begin Wednesday, with evening fireworks.  Christians of all ages will be welcomed by some of today's most popular Christian rock musicians.  In celebration of the 30th anniversary, images and videos will be featured on the jumbotron and a very special, surprise guest will be a part of Friday night's festivities.  The festival also features its traditional communion service Thursday, Friday candle lighting service and the annual baptismal service Saturday at the farm's large pond.  Creation is a Christ-centured event in beautiful surroundings.

AUG. 9 - CJJHS Mini Reunion
The fourth annual "mini" reunion of the Captain Jack Joint High School, Class of 1964, will be held at Hoss's Steak & Sea House, Huntingdon.  This is a Dutch treat lunch beginning at 1:00 p.m.   Nothing fancy; just a chance to meet and visit with old friends.  If you plan to come, alone or with a guest, please contact  Paul Lee Prough by July 12.

AUG. 13 - Annual Historical Society Auction
Our 14th annual auction will be held on Wednesday, August 13.  You are invited to be searching for items that you or your friends or neighbors might be willing to donate to this event.  We need good usable household items, collectibles, tools, sporting goods, toys, vintage clothing, jewelry, etc.  We must know of your donations by July 1 in order to include them in our sale bill.

For questions, call Beverly Tilson at 542-4763, or for pickup call Murray Aftica at 542-2534, or items may be brought to the Sharrar House any Thursday from 1 to 4  p.m.  In addition to material donations, monetary gifts will be gladly accepted.  It is essential that our auction be a success, as we are faced with substantial fuel and property insurance bills this year.  Thanks in advance.  We truly appreciate your support!

Riverside Park Revitalization -- Some of our residents may recall the park which was located behind the current Mount Union High School football field.  Recently there has been an effort by local citizens to restore this park area.

The Riverside Park Committee, which has been formally recognized by the Mount Union Borough Council, is comprised of Captain Jack and Mount Union graduates from Mount Union Borough, Kistler Borough, Wayne and Shirley Township.  The restoration is on-going and funded by State grants, private donations and volunteer labor.  New playground equipment was installed last fall.  The master plan for the revitalization of the park encompasses not only the actual park, but the adjacent river areas as well.

If you are interested in helping the Committee with their efforts, donations can be made to:  Riverside Park Committee, c/o Georgianna Abrashoff, P.O. Box 467, Mount Union, PA 17066.

If you are interested in having a tour of the park area, please contact Georgianna at the above address so that arrangements can be made the next time you are in the local area.
